The digital salinity refractometer from PCE Instruments has been specially designed to perform a precise analysis of aqueous solutions. Thus, with the help of the salinity refractometer, the user can carry out uncomplicated quality controls and determine, for example, the proportion of sodium chloride in the liquid foods or the salt content in aquariums.
The salinity refractometer is a precision measuring instrument based on the measurement of the refractive index of a liquid. With the help of the salt content refractometer, the user can measure the salt concentration in a liquid already in a small amount of sample. To get a meaningful result, it is sufficient to drip a few drops of liquid into the stainless-steel tray of the meter. In the sample tray a prism is enclosed, and by means of refraction, the salt content is measured in this way. The integrated light source in the digital salinity refractometer prevents measurement errors that in an analogue salinity refractometer, are quickly triggered by the artificial light such as fluorescent lamps. The measurement result is quickly and accurately shown on the large, easy-to-read LC display of the salinity refractometer after automatic temperature compensation (10 to 40 ° C). The user of the refractometer can also choose between different measuring units: salinity (0 to 100.00 %), chlorine content (0 to 57 %), specific density (1.000 to 1.070) and refractive index (1.3330 to 1.3530 nD). In addition, thanks to an integrated temperature indicator, the display provides information on the measured temperature of the liquid.
The glass prism of the digital salinity refractometer enclosed in the stainless-steel tray can be quickly and easily cleaned before and after the measurement and is closed with a plastic prismatic cover. The manufacturer has designed the salinity refractometer in such a way that the glass prism is protected from damage. The comfortable three-button operation guarantees a user-friendly handling and nearly eliminates any incorrect operation of the salinity refractometer. The manufacturer has equipped the digital salinity refractometer with an automatic shutdown function to save the battery of the meter. When not in use, the salinity refractometer switches off automatically after one minute. If required, the user himself can calibrate the salinity refractometer at any time by putting a few drops of the distilled water into the measuring tray and triggering the calibration by pressing a button.
